Giuseppe Rossi’s career has, by all accounts, already become synonymous with constant knee injuries and yet the 30-year-old has suffered another setback in that department.
Just 35 minutes into Celta Vigo’s 2-0 loss to Eibar on Sunday, the Italian striker was forced to be substituted following a pain picked up in that area.
“We have not diagnosed it yet but what scares us most is his sensations he’s getting,” club doctor Juan Jose Garcia Cota said after the game.
“It could be a serious injury.
“We have been exploring the issue and he does not appear to have a big problem, but there is a lot of worry.
“Specifically because of the sensations and the mechanism of the injury, it makes us think that there may be something.”
Such a blow would be huge for the player but also for Celta, who were led to a 3-1 victory over Las Palmas just last week thanks to a Rossi hat-trick as the forward aims to kick on in a season-long spell at Estadio Balaidos.
