Champions League Draw: All You Need To Know For The 22/23 Season

The focus now moves to the UEFA Champions League for this season after a summer packed with thrilling football action and a spectacular start to the 2022–23 campaign.

The group stage, which is scheduled to start on September 6, 2022, will be where the biggest clubs from the main European leagues will start their journey for the top continental trophy.

Real Madrid, the defending champion, as well as fellow European powerhouses Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool will be anxiously anticipating the group stage draw and hoping for an easy start to their 2022–23 European campaign.

When Is The UEFA Champions League Draw?

The Champions League group stage draw for 2022-23 will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

The group stage draw will take place at the Halic Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey, and it will start at 5 p.m. WAT.

UEFA will also announce and give out awards to the top players from the 2021–22 football season before the draw.

Which Teams Are In The 22/23 UCL Pots?

The group stage of the 2022–23 Champions League will include 32 football teams in total. 26 clubs are automatic qualifiers, meaning they are automatically entered into the draw. Following victories in the play-off rounds, six more clubs will join them.

Four pots are created by dividing qualified teams: The top six national league champions, Europa League champions, and championship holders are all included in Pot 1 according to UEFA country coefficients. The teams’ UEFA club coefficients are used to fill the remaining three pots.
