Chelsea And Man Utd Missed The Chance To Sign World-Class Star For Just £10.6m

Chelsea and Manchester United blew an opportunity to get Roma star Paulo Dybala on the cheap. The Argentine had been available for a reasonable price of £10.6 million, but their chance to recruit him is about to be taken away. Both Premier League clubs are trying to bolster their rosters with less than a month left in the transfer window, but Dybala is not going anywhere.

The 29-year-old’s current deal with Roma extends through 2025 and has two release clauses: £17 million for rival Serie A clubs and £10.6 million for teams outside of Italy. The former Juventus star has spent almost ten years in Italian football but has established himself as one of the league’s best performers and has been linked with a move to England on numerous occasions.

However, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Dybala is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Roma that will remove both provisions. Jose Mourinho’s star man is set to extend his contract until 2026, with a one-year extension option, and the contract will feature a new release clause that will be more difficult to exercise.

It is a setback for both Chelsea and Manchester United, following the Blues’ public requests for Dybala to leave Rome and move to Stamford Bridge. “I saw Paulo Dybala here, and he’s talked about at Chelsea.” “I’m hoping he shows up,” Thiago Silva told Sky Sports at the British Grand Prix. “I spoke with him and asked if he was coming; he responded, but I can’t say what he said.”

What The Dutch Boss Said About Erik ten Hag?

While United boss Erik ten Hag has bemoaned the lack of players able to make the difference in the final third at his disposal, something Dybala excels at. “I think we need more players that are capable of being in 1v1s,” the Dutch boss said on Thursday. “From these situations – you have to score.”

United instead are prioritising moves for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, though with the club wary of Financial Fair Play and restrictions surrounding their current takeover process – Dybala may have been a relatively cheap option to improve the team that has now been missed
