Chelsea Announce Mauricio Pochettino As New Head Coach

Mauricio Pochettino has been named as Chelsea’s next head coach, the club has confirmed.

Since leaving Paris St. Germain last year, after having won the 2020–21 Coupe de France and the 202–21 league title, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager has been without a job.

He is expected to start his role at Stamford Bridge on July 1st. He takes the reins from Frank Lampard, who was seeing out the season as caretaker manager after the sacking of Graham Potter.

In a club statement, Chelsea said: “Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward.

“He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages.

“His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate.”
