Chelsea has a shortlist that includes Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, and Roberto De Zerbi, but they are willing to go through the Champions League season with stand-in Bruno Saltor because the priority is to get the appointment right for pre-season.
Blues officials are talking about a “exhaustive search” because, like the departed Graham Potter, they want a coach who believes in developing a young squad in the most progressive ways and understands what the club needs.
Chelsea had begun to consider this as early as February, when it became clear that the situation would not improve under Potter.
What Is Chelsea’s Stance On Their Hunt For A Manager?
The names were considered at the time, but, as with Thomas Tuchel’s departure in September, it has been stressed that there is no possibility of an immediate appointment.
Despite this, Nagelsmann’s name has emerged prominently in early discussions following his departure from Bayern Munich. According to reports from Germany, contact has already been made, but the 35-year-old is hesitant to jump right back into another job.
The Chelsea football staff has numerous Red Bull connections, including technical director Christoph Vivell, and this has been discussed with Nagelsmann. The club will be willing to wait if co-owner Todd Boehly is convinced that he is the right man according to Belfast Telegraph
Pochettino had previously spoken with Chelsea when Tuchel left, and is said to be interested in the position despite his Tottenham Hotspur background.

His work with young players at White Hart Lane stands out, especially given how Chelsea is currently attempting to shape the squad around a new generation of young talent. The same can be said for Luis Enrique.
De Zerbi would naturally be interested in the move, but there are potential political ramifications because it would mean Chelsea taking two consecutive coaches off Brighton.
The Italian also has far less top-level experience than other candidates, which the hierarchy recognized during Potter’s tenure.
