Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Says ‘We Are Going To Concede Goals This Season Playing Out From The Back’

Enzo Maresca, the new head coach of Chelsea acknowledges that his team would concede goals as a result of the dangers associated with playing out of the back.

In a friendly match in Santa Clara, League One Wrexham overcame a halftime deficit to take the lead but Lesley Ugochukwu’s late goal, following Christopher Nkunku’s first-half goal, sealed a 2-2 draw.

Maresca asserted that there are more advantages to the play style he is attempting to promote than disadvantages.

“We lose a tussle, give up the goal and the first came from a single bounce.

Playing from the back, we will undoubtedly give up goals this season,” he stated during the news conference following the game.

With luck, not too many. One of the pitfalls of attempting to grow from behind is this.

“I believe there will be various methods for you to concede, so you must determine which method is appropriate for you to give up a goal.”

“Teams that try to build from the back sometimes give goals away but I believe you will score more goals than you give up.”

Maresca expressed his satisfaction with Robert Sanchez’s play in goal, but he would not address rumors that he was considering a move for Filip Jorgensen of Villarreal, reports Independent

“I can confirm that Robert performed admirably both tonight and throughout our entire session,” he continued.

“Undoubtedly, the goalie is one of the key positions and is really vital to the kind of play we want to play.

And while I’m thrilled with Robert, I don’t want to discuss guys who aren’t Chelsea players.
