Chelsea Confirm The Transfer Of 19-Year-Old Star

Brazilian youth Ângelo Gabriel moved to Saudi team Al Nassr in a reported $25 million transfer on Tuesday, a year after joining Chelsea from Santos, continuing his unexpected career arc.

Gabriel never played for Chelsea during his year on the club’s books after a $17 million transfer, since he went on loan to Strasbourg, one of the teams owned by Chelsea’s American investors.

The 19-year-old was part of Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, but has signed a permanent deal with Al Nassr, where he will play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

The transfer was disclosed a day after the Saudi transfer window closed, and it will help Chelsea comply with Premier League and UEFA financial regulations.

Another Brazilian teenager, Deivid Washington, joined Chelsea from Santos around the same time as Gabriel last year and was on the verge of making a permanent move to Strasbourg, but the west London club canceled the transfer after concerns were raised about the deal and whether it complied with competition rules. Reported By ESPN.

“We wish Angelo the very best as he begins the next chapter in his career and thank him for his efforts during his time with Chelsea,” the Premier League club said in a statement.

Gabriel was the youngest player in the history of Brazil’s national championship when he made his senior debut for Santos at the age of 15 years and 308 days.
