Chelsea Eyeing Former Man United Star As Mason Mount Replacement

Chelsea appear to be searching for potential replacements for Mason Mount if the midfielder is allowed to leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-contract old’s at Stamford Bridge is about to expire, and the Blues are willing to let him leave if an agreement isn’t reached by the transfer window.

That’s to prevent the Cobham Academy graduate from departing on a free deal afterwards, as the possibility of a switch seems more likely as negotiations over an extension stall. The England international has been linked to teams like Manchester United and Liverpool for a possible transfer in the coming months.

“Ultimately it is between the club and Mason,” Chelsea manager Graham Potter said in a press conference earlier this month.

“I have spoken to him numerous times about his situation, football and life generally. My feelings for Mason are clear. He is a fantastic person firstly but sometimes these things happen.

While there is uncertainty over the future of Mount, plans to succeed him appear to be in place as rumours linking Chelsea with other options emerge.

One of which is Fulham’s Andreas Pereira as ESPN reports that the playmaker is eyed as a target for the Blues in the coming months.

The former Manchester United star made the switch to west London last summer after a decade spent at Old Trafford and has impressed since becoming a first-team regular.

The report claims that Fulham value Periera at £25-to-£35m and a move could depend on the future of manager Marco Silva.
