Chelsea fans angry at the way John Terry is being treated staged a demo at Anfield on Wednesday night, pointing out how many trophies they had won under their captain.
Until now there has been no movement over a new deal but Terry, 35, out of contract this summer, spent the day in talks with director Marina Granovskaia.
The skipper, serving the first of his two-match ban for a red card at Sunderland, reported to Stamford Bridge after lunch and was still there as Guus Hiddink’s team kicked off at Anfield.
He has repeatedly stated he wants to stay at the club he joined from school but had become resigned to leaving and had made plans for his exit next week.
Guus Hiddink was tight-lipped on Terry’s future after the game, saying: ‘Let’s wait to see what happens in the upcoming days. It’s difficult to make a comment, of course John is in contact every day with us.
‘He has made such a long career that the fans appreciate him highly, but we will see regarding his near future, let’s wait a bit.
‘There was a contact today but because I am focused on the game I’ve not heard the results of that. Hopefully both are wise parties and let’s hope for the best. It’s difficult for me to say what direction it’s going.’
