Chelsea fans have vented their frustration at goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after he failed to save Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha’s long-range effort.
Frank Lampard’s side had taken a quick two-goal lead at Selhurst Park, after goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic showcased positive signs in the race for the top four in the Premier League.
However, before the half-time whistle Wilfried Zaha scored a wondergoal for the hosts and Chelsea fans were left unimpressed by Kepa’s attempt to stop the shot.
The Spaniard has already lost his place this season to understudy Willy Caballero after a run of poor performances.
However, he has become the first-choice again since lockdown but some Chelsea fans are fed up with their £72million stopper after Zaha’s strike.
One fan tweeted: ‘Fair play to Kepa though, he’s keeping socially distanced from the ball as usual’
Another fan posted: ‘I really don’t want to be that guy but does anyone have any confidence whatsoever when a ball is shot at Kepa… because I don’t.’
Some Chelsea fans compared the goalkeeper to their former striker Alvaro Morata, as one tweeted: ‘Having Kepa in goal is like having Morata up top. Rubbish mentality and RUBBISH ability. I don’t see a single thing I value in this keeper. He’s genuinely the worst signing in football history. 72 MILLION POUNDS FOR THIS GUY. Na, he makes my blood boil so much.’
Kepa joined Chelsea from LaLiga club Athletic Bilbao in 2018 as he became the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
He has since played over 90 matches for the London-club but is now linked with a move back to Spain, with Valencia interested in the 25-year-old.
