‘Chelsea Football Club, not Cole Palmer Football Club’ – Mauricio Pochettino Says His Side Is Not A One-Man

The team’s motto, according to manager Mauricio Pochettino, is “Chelsea Football Club, not Cole Palmer Football Club.”
The 21-year-old is doubtful to play against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night after missing practice due to illness.

Palmer, a 20-goal striker who is vying with Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins for the Premier League Golden Boot, would be missing his first Chelsea game since December.

Before the London Derby, Pochettino was questioned about if his other attackers could step in for him if his top player wasn’t available.

“We shall see,” he said to reporters. We’ll see. If Palmer is unavailable tomorrow, it’s a nice challenge anyhow. It presents an excellent challenge for his teammates or those in similar position.

“If I were them, I would be motivated to go there tomorrow and show that this is Chelsea Football Club, not Cole Palmer Football Club.”

The England international has scored nine of his previous nine penalties, so if Palmer is sidelined, the Blues manager will need to find a replacement. The argument over Palmer’s spot-kick duties was spurred by an altercation between Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke during the team’s home match against Everton.

“I don’t believe they are envious,” he continued.

Palmer, all they want is the same medicine we give! I’m kidding! We want what they want, so please do anything you can for Palmer.

It serves as a good illustration for them of why he is succeeding and why they are not able to follow in his footsteps. It seems like a worthwhile challenge.
