Chelsea Get Clear Path To £55m Man Utd Move – But Red Devils Could Be Gazumped By Ipswich

There are only 11 days left in the January transfer window (it actually extends into next month), and things are heating up chelsea in the land of transfer rumors – which is why we’re back to go over some of the biggest new Premier League transfer stories and give our opinion on whether or not they’ll happen.

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea has received some positive news as they consider a deal for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. Napoli, who had made two offers for his services, is expected to withdraw from the bidding and instead focus on signing Karim Adeyimi from Borussia Dortmund.

United have reportedly reduced their demands to €65 million (£55 million) in order to facilitate a sale, but Serie A leaders Napoli were €10 million short of their maximum bid, if the report is correct. The two clubs will meet again in the coming days, but it appears that Chelsea’s path will be left open.

Ineos, the club’s new part-owners, are eager to sell high-value home-grown players in order to facilitate a rebuild of the squad under new manager Ruben Amorim. Chelsea could benefit from this, but they may have to sell players first to make the numbers work.

Manchester United caught off guard by seagulls

We may not have to wait long to find out who United will replace Garnacho with, as Sport Witness has picked up on an Italian article that indicates the Red Devils could make a surprise move to sign Brighton & Hove Albion attacking midfielder Julio Enciso.

The Paraguayan had been expected to move to relegation strugglers Ipswich Town on loan, but United have apparently made a “last-minute approach” and want him to “be the replacement in case Garnacho goes” but may not have much luck – the reports goes on to cite a journalist who claims that Enciso is likely to turn them down in order to ensure he gets first-team football.
