Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has revealed that Antonio Conte doesn’t like his Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho.
The pair clashed repeatedly during the FA Cup tie between the sides at Stamford Bridge last week, with Begovic, who was on the bench for that fixture, witnessing the exchanges at close quarters.
As reported by Metro, Begovic said: “It was a huge occasion, a huge game at the Bridge. As disappointed as I was at not playing in the game, what I did have was first row seats to what was some amusing sideline antics.
“The two managers going at it, yelling at each other, it was a very intense match.
“It was really unnecessary, but it was so funny, because I was trying so hard not to laugh. Every time the camera was on them, we were thinking ‘keep a straight face, keep a straight face, don’t laugh at these guys’.
“It wasn’t unprofessional, but I thought it was a little bit too much. They were really into it, it was a big deal and I don’t think they like each other very much.”
Conte appears on track to guide Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the club, with the Blues currently ten points clear at the top of the table.
United, meanwhile, are in fifth place, with Mourinho’s side having struggled for consistency this campaign. The Red Devils have, however, won the EFL Cup this season, while they are still in contention to win the Europa League.
The aforementioned FA Cup fixture, which Chelsea prevailed in, was just the second occasion on which Conte has faced Mourinho. The other such instance came in December 2009 when Mourinho’s Inter Milan drew 1-1 with Conte’s Atalanta.
