Robert Sanchez is keen to take over as Chelsea’s new number one player and feels he is the ideal candidate for the role as Chelsea looks to acquire Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
With his arrival from Brighton last summer, Sanchez was Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice for the first part of the 2023–24 season.
Following an injury sustained back in December, he was replaced by Djordje Petrovic and he never recovered, reports Football London
However, Sanchez is eager to reclaim the gloves and believes that a management change would strengthen his cause.
Enzo Maresca has taken Pochettino’s position as their new head coach.
This is true even though the Blues made a £17 million first bid to secure Jorgensen, who may arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Sanchez stated, “I am training hard to get that position,” in an interview.

After I have a few minutes, we may continue. I’ve always believed that my game is playing with my feet.
I am completely at ease with what Maresca want. I’ve been following his instructions in training, and so far it’s looking great.
He has made clear what he expects from me.
“I understand what I can contribute to the group. I’m enthusiastic. The style is completely different.
It is imperative that the goalie in this situation ‘have a pair’ and have some personality. That’s why I believe I’m the proper man.
At this moment, I’m feeling really secure in my training. It seems fantastic. It simply comes down to being a little different from what a typical goalie is like; you have to be a little cocky, handle the ball, have some skill and “have a pair.”
