Chelsea are in advanced talks with Aston Villa’s Colombian striker Jhon Duran, according to sources in his home country. The Blues have been looking for a striker, having been linked with Victor Osimhen, then Benjamin Sesko, who has decided to stay in Germany, before renewing interest in the Villa player.
According to En La Jugada, Chelsea has reached an agreement with Villa to buy Duran for more than double the sum they paid for the MLS club, with the transaction poised to finalize at £40 million. Chelsea had interest in the Colombian striker last summer but later discontinued it in favor of Sesko.

The 21-year-old’s choice to stay in Germany has prompted Chelsea to speed up talks with Villa to sign Duran this week, LondonWorld has learned exclusively. Despite being a backup to Ollie Watkins, Duran scored five league goals, eight in total if you include Cup and Europa League games.
Duran’s agent, Jonathan Herrera, warned last month that he may be leaving after conceding that game time was a concern for the ambitious player. He told El VBar Caracol in Colombia, “He is a player with an Aston Villa contract, he ended up doing very well, and the coach is counting on him.” It is a club that has gotten into the Champions League, which is a fantastic opportunity, but we know he wants to play, so we’ll see.
“Now the market is opening up, the club is looking at some options, and so are we. The interest [from Chelsea] has always been there. The fact that Pochettino continues or leaves the club [shouldn’t affect], the one who wants him in the end is the club.
