Chelsea reportedly spoke with Jonathan David’s agent, who is also a target for Tottenham in this summer’s transfer window as he seeks a move away from current club Lille.
That’s according to Simon Phillips on Substack, with the Blues writer noting that the Canada international’s agent is currently looking for a move for his client, which has led to many of the transfer rumours we’re seeing.
David might be a good signing for Chelsea, who will undoubtedly need to improve on Nicolas Jackson next season, though some fans may believe they can do better than the Lille forward.

The 24-year-old has been quite prolific in Ligue 1, scoring 19 goals in 34 league games last season and 24 in 37 the previous year.
It’s unclear whether that’s good enough for him to score frequently in the Premier League, but he’s a more established player than Jackson was when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
Jonathan David transfer situation explained by Chelsea expert
“On Jonathan David, we’ve heard that right now it’s more of his agent pushing him to clubs as he looks for a suitor this summer.” David is eager to make his big move and is drawn to the Premier League. SPTC sources have confirmed that David’s agent has spoken with many teams, including Chelsea and Tottenham,” Phillips explained.
“There is interest from Chelsea, which has been historical under current and previous ownership, but nothing has proceeded beyond agency contacts as of Tuesday morning. We’ll see if it gets forward, but for the most part, his agent has been contacting potential suitors. According to sources, he could end up at Tottenham, but Chelsea’s interest cannot be overlooked.
Tottenham might potentially be a strong fit for David, since he would most certainly play regularly as a direct replacement for Harry Kane up front.
