Chelsea have reportedly held talks with the agent of Barcelona midfielder, Gavi over a potential move to the London-based club.
Since making his debut in August 2021 at the age of 16, Gavi has gained recognition as one of the top young midfielders in the world.
He and his teammate Pedri, are thought to be crucial to Barcelona’s future rebuilding under Xavi. Following a number of high-profile departures.
Indeed, some people have even said that the two are Xavi and Andres Iniesta’s inevitable successors for both club and country.
Gavi has apparently been admired by Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City for some time. But it seemed unlikely that they would be able to persuade him to leave the Catalan giants.
However, Barcelona’s dispute with La Liga over Gavi’s contract which mirrors the circumstances that led to Lionel Messi’s dramatic departure back in 2021, has given interested clubs hope.
According to Diario AS as reported by Sport Bible, Ivan de la Pena, Gavi’s agent, and Chelsea’s sporting director Christopher Vivell reportedly met in Madrid a few weeks ago. The meeting is all about discussing Chelsea’s desire to sign the Spain international this summer.

According to the reports, the meeting went well. And Chelsea has set up another meeting for later this month to continue the conversation.
Also the source claims that Chelsea are ready to make the player a big offer. This would probably surpass Barcelona’s offer and include a sizable signing-on bonus. Additionally, Gavi would be joining Luis Enrique if he were to take over the west London club as has been claimed.
