Newcastle United defender, Lewis Hall is reportedly available to line-up against his parent club, Chelsea in the quarter final of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday potentially creating an embarrassing scenario for the Blues.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who is now a left back, signed a one-year loan deal with Newcastle this summer. But the deal also included a £34 million buyout obligation.
Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe stated last week that he was not “100%” certain that Hall’s temporary move would automatically become a permanent agreement and that he must fulfill “certain criteria.”
Nevertheless, given that Hall has only appeared in seven games this season, Chelsea insiders claim that the Magpies are not required to sign Hall based on how many games he played.
The specific requirements Hall might need to fulfill in order for his switch to become permanent at the end of the season have not been confirmed, despite rumors to the contrary.
In spite of being declared ineligible to play against the Blues in the Toons’ 4-1 Premier League victory at St. James’ Park, according to The Irish Independent, Newcastle have obtained special dispensation to play the Cobham academy graduate against Chelsea.

Chelsea will be aware that Hall could assist Newcastle in eliminating them from the competition that currently provides the best opportunity for winning a trophy and qualifying for Europe.
However, it is believed that due to the terms of the original agreement, the club was essentially unable to stop the 19-year-old from playing after the draw was made. Unlike in the Premier League where Hall is ineligible to play against Chelsea.
