Chelsea have given Bayern Munich the chance to sign Wesley Fofana during the summer transfer window.
The French defender joined the Blues just a year ago. And despite having a challenging season owing to many injuries, he is expected to play a significant role in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the first team.
On Monday, July 3, the Argentine began his formal employment as the new Chelsea manager. Today (Tuesday), the senior stars who did not participate for their national teams are scheduled to return to full training which is anticipated to begin.
According to Sport1 reporter Kerry Hau via Football London, Fofana was ‘offered’ to Bayern Munich. But the German champions declined the opportunity to sign him.
Fofana would have been reunited with Thomas Tuchel, who took him to Stamford Bridge from Leicester in a deal worth up to £75 million, had the Bavarians transfer been finalized. Bayern are in need of defensive reinforcements in the center. But thought Fofana was too expensive as they are close to signing Kim Min-jae from Napoli.
Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva’s futures now appear to be in doubt. Therefore Fofana has a fantastic potential to become Pochettino’s undroppable player.

Cesar Azpilicueta, another defensive choice, is anticipated to leave as well. After an agreement to end his contract with the Blues and a move to Atletico Madrid was made.
The 22-year-old might emerge as the preferred choice to deploy on the right of a central defensive partnership. Where he would most likely pair up next to either Levi Colwill or Benoit Badiashile if there was less competition at the back.
