Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Moises Caicedo as Brighton and Hove Albion prepared to demand more than £80m for the midfielder.
The Ecuadorian international, who is also being pursued by Arsenal. But is viewed as less of their top concern than Declan Rice of West Ham United, for whom an initial offer has already been turned down. Chelsea have now emerged as the leading contender for him.
Although Chelsea never had any doubts about being able to match the 21-year-old’s demands. The Blues are making progress in their negotiations with Caicedo’s representation. And 90min have revealed that a deal over personal terms is close to being finalized.
The two clubs are now negotiating. Throughout the summer, there has been continual communication between Chelsea and Brighton over a variety of topics. Including the Seagulls’ interest in Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher. And Chelsea are attempting to reach a price agreement.
Brighton are willing to sell Caicedo this summer. But 90min believes that they value the Ecuadorian international at a price comparable to that of Rice, for whom Arsenal has already had an £80 million offer rejected.

Brighton are believed to want closer to £100 million to let go of Caicedo, who is still on Arsenal’s radar despite their priority in pursuing Rice.
Chelsea are eager to recruit Caicedo by swooping in response to Arsenal’s choice. Since his time with Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, scouts have been keeping an eye on the midfielder.
Del Valle is the same club that produced 16-year-old wonderkid Kendry Paez, who will join the Blues in 2025.
