Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Napoli‘s Kalidou Koulibaly after making a £38 million offer for the defender.
The 25-year-old has been a huge target for Antonio Conte for most of the summer as the new Blues’ manager looks to add to his defensive options for his first season in the Premier League.
Koulibaly is rejecting a new contract at the Serie A club and his agent, Bruno Satin, has already confirmed that Chelsea are eager to sign his client this summer.
And according to Sky Sports the Blues have put forward an offer of £38m in a bid to get the powerful centre-back out of Italy and into Stamford Bridge.
Should a move happen Koulibaly will become Conte’s third signing of the summer at the club, having also brought in Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and N’Golo Kante from Premier League champions Leicester City.
Koulibaly starred in 33 Serie A matches last season as Napoli claimed a second place finish in the division, but the defender’s decision to try and leave has angered the club and owner Aureilo De Laurentiis.
Nonetheless it seems that Chelsea are serious in their attempts to sign the defender and Koulibaly could now be set to sign for the Blues.
