Mauricio Pochettino is the favorite to take over at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea players are reportedly looking forward to working under the Argentine.
Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, the Blues’ co-owners, have been working narrowing their list of contenders as they look for a long-term successor for Graham Potter, who was dismissed earlier this month.
Frank Lampard has returned to Stamford Bridge on an interim basis until the end of the season, but after losing his first four games in command, his contract will not be extended for a second time.
Along with Pochettino, top prospects for the position included Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, but both men are now said to be out of the running.
As a result, Pochettino quickly became Chelsea’s top priority, and the Blues’ squad have given the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain head coach their stamp of approval, according to The Telegraph.
Pochettino has been out of the dugout since being let go by PSG at the end of the 2021-22 season, despite recovering the Ligue 1 title from Lille with four games to spare.
The 51-year-old is said to have held positive meetings with Blues directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, and the players would appreciate the chance to work under Pochettino’s tutelage.

According to the report, Pochettino’s man-management and motivational skills have been praised by Chelsea’s English contingent.
Should negotiations with Pochettino fail, Chelsea have a plethora of backup options, including Vincent Kompany, Ange Postecoglou, Ruben Amorim, and Arne Slot.
Pochettino has a record of 132 wins, 61 draws, and 63 loses in 256 Premier League games as manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, taking the former to the Champions League final in 2019.
