Chelsea have reportedly decided to postpone any further contract talks with Mason Mount until the end of the season.
Since the academy graduate entered the final two years of his current contract, there has been speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge.
Although extended agreements with the likes of Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, and Armando Broja have recently been agreed, the fellow former Blues youngster is yet to pledge his future to the club.
According to various reports in recent months, the 24-year-old is eager to extend his stint with the West Londoners, a club that he has played for on 191 occasions.
But, it has been widely reported that there are a number of roadblocks, including a desire for parity with other key members of the squad and a wish not to sign a seven or eight-year contract, which has been more common since the club’s ownership last May.
Head coach Graham Potter revealed during a press conference on Friday that he wanted a resolution as soon as possible, but conceding that the negotiations were tough.
Instead, The Athletic says that no more discussions will take place until the end of the season in order to prevent distractions.

According to the report, Chelsea’s objective is to move up the Premier League standings as fast as possible while also remaining in the Champions League.
Mount is no longer considered an automatic first-team starter at Chelsea, with two of his last three outings coming off the bench.
If Chelsea fail to reach terms with Mount in the summer, the club would apparently attempt to move the playmaker, who has many fans both at home and abroad.
