Chelsea are reportedly ready to spend some of the £60million gained from the sale of Oscar to sign want-away West Ham star Dimitri Payet in the January transfer window.
The Blues are keen to strengthen in midfield this winter after losing both Oscar and John Obi Mikel to the Chinese Super League, with Antonio Conte also missing out on other targets.
Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal had also been on the Italian’s list, but the priority may now be the unsettled Payet after the Bundesliga giants refused to sell.
Chelsea have been one of many top clubs linked with the France international as it was confirmed he wanted out of his current club, and Conte is now stepping up his interest.
West Ham also retain an interest in long-term target Michy Batshuayi, who could leave Stamford Bridge for more first-team football this month.
Chelsea are aware of the Hammers’ desire to land the Belgian, and could use him as a makeweight in any potential deal for Payet, according to The Sun.
It remains to be seen, however, if Chelsea can convince the 29-year-old to move across London as he is said to be pining for a return to former club Marseille.
