Chelsea have turned down a £40m bid from West Ham for England midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The 23-year-old Gallagher is currently on the team’s preseason tour of the United States and has two years left on his contract. Gallagher has kicked off pre-season in good form and scored in last weekend’s 4-3 victory over Brighton in Philadelphia.
The 2021–22 season saw the Chelsea academy graduate enjoy a productive loan with Crystal Palace, as he won player of the season and also made his England debut.
He made his Chelsea debut the previous campaign and went on to make 45 appearances while scoring three goals.
Chelsea’s ownership group has been attempting to prevent players from entering the final two years of their contracts, as demonstrated by Mason Mount’s £55m transfer to Manchester United.
