Chelsea Reject €20m Midfielder Offer From Atletico Madrid, Talks To Continue After Euro 2024

Conor Gallagher of Chelsea is reportedly one of Atletico Madrid’s top objectives when it comes to midfielders. Premier League teams are also showing interest in the 24-year-old, but Los Colchoneros are adamant about winning the fight for his signature.

Diario AS claims that Atleti and Chelsea have been in discussions about Gallagher, and that Atleti has lately made an unofficial opening offer of €20 million. That was rejected, though, by the West London side.

Diego Simeone and the rest of the Atletico athletic department have a great deal of affection for Gallagher. Though negotiations will probably be put on hold after Euro 2024, where Gallagher is now playing for England, the initial rejection is unlikely to deter them from signing him. While waiting, agreements can be negotiated for further targets, such as Matt O’Riley and Mats Wieffer.

Gallagher has been frequently linked to Atleti Madrid recently, so his signing would be a surprise move. It’s evident that having a defensive midfielder is more important, and the Englishman is perceived as more of a box-to-box player than that.

Atleti have made an informal approach to Chelsea for just over €20m, but the English club rejected it. The clubs will talk again after the Euro.
