Chelsea scout shock PSG defeat amid Draxler interest

Chelsea sent a scout to France on Friday to check on transfer targets when Paris Saint-Germain met Dijon amid recent reports of interest in Julian Draxler. Chelsea are back on the lookout for fresh blood after being unable to sign players this past summer because of their transfer ban and Ligue 1 is always a good place to start.
Mercato365 report that scouts from several English clubs, as well as Barcelona, were in attendance at the Stade Gaston-Gerard to witness the shock of the season so far in Ligue 1.
Chelsea’s spy was joined by representatives of Sheffield United, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.
And it is interesting to note that the spying mission comes a fortnight after the Blues were linked with PSG’s German playmaker Draxler, who has not seen much action under coach Thomas Tuchel this term.
The 26-year-old, who was linked to Chelsea in 2017, recently returned from a foot injury he sustained in August and made only his third Ligue 1 appearance of the campaign against Dijon as a late substitute.
Unfortunately for PSG, Draxler’s late cameo wasn’t enough to turn the game around after Dijon had earlier come from behind to claim a shock lead.
The visitors did improve in the second half and hit the woodwork twice late on but Dijon held on for all three points.
A recent report stated that the 26-year-old German international is a PSG player ‘who really seduces the Blues’ and even went as far to state that Chelsea view Draxler as a player who can perform a similar all-action creative role as Manchester City’s inspirational midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne plays on the right for City and that is a position Chelsea will surely be looking at as Willian appears increasingly likely to head for the Stamford Bridge exit door in the summer.
Speculation over the future of Draxler has been raging in the French media for some time as it is claimed PSG have stepped up their efforts to find him a new club and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as a potential suitor.
