Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has explained why he turned down a move to Arsenal when he left Leicester City during last summer’s transfer window.
The France international shone in the Premier League last season after arriving as a virtual unknown, guiding Leicester to a shock title victory before earning a big move to Stamford Bridge.
A host of top clubs had been after Kante before he wound up at Chelsea, and the 26-year-old admits he was persuaded by them because they wanted him most.
‘With Arsenal there was an interest but not a big as other clubs,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘That is why I didn’t go to Arsenal and went to Chelsea.’
Arsenal could’ve done with a midfielder of Kante’s calibre, but instead spent £35million on signing Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, who has proven a disappointment so far.
