Following his injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 Champions League victory over AC Milan, Reece James has posted on social media, saying, “fingers crossed it’s not a bad one.”
Jorginho and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for Chelsea after Fikayo Tomori was sent off to secure the decisive victory.
The former Blues defender was adjudged to have dragged back Mason Mount within the penalty area midway through the first half, with the referee pointing to the spot and dismissing the England player.
Tomori took a long time to leave the field, and Milan were furious.
However, Graham Potter’s team deserves a lot of praise for their expert work on the Italian side.
Chelsea were on their way to a convincing victory when Jorginho deservedly converted from the penalty spot. Leter on, Aubameyang completed a lovely move with Mount once more in the spotlight.
After the game, he tweeted, “Fingers crossed it’s not a bad one. Love for all the messages, I appreciate you all.”

“We’re hoping Reece will be OK,” said Potter. “It will be 24, 48 hours to find out, so it’s too early to give you anything more than that.”
Gareth Southgate, manager of England, will be one of those anxiously awaiting the results of scans to determine the extent of James’ knee injury.
