Chelsea stepping up interest in Foxes star

Chelsea are ready to step up their interest in Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell following his stunning performance for England on Thursday night. The 22-year-old has been a revelation for the Foxes over the last 18 months, leading to speculation that some of the Premier League’s big boys are keen, but he has moved his performances on to another level this season.
The left-back has helped Leicester move to third in the top flight, but is also doing the business on the international stage when becoming Gareth Southgate’s first choice for the left-back role in his England side.
England thrashed Montenegro 7-0 at Wembley Stadium and Chilwell put in a man-of-the-match display when setting up three goals in the opening 25 minutes to catch the eye of those watching.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was watching and would have no doubt been impressed with what he saw of the youngster.
Much is being made of the fact that Lampard ‘liked’ an Instagram post from Chilwell which showed him celebrating at Wembley, but it is fair to say the Blues boss would jump at the chance to do a deal if he became available.
Left-back is an area that Lampard wants to strengthen when he gets the chance and players are already being identified for when the transfer embargo is lifted.
Chilwell is sure to be on his list of targets, but luring him away from the King Power Stadium will be a lot easier said than done.
The Foxes have shown they will not let their star players leave easily and it certainly will not be happening in the January transfer window as Leicester are going very well and are on course for Champions League football.
Chelsea would also face very strong competition for his services as Manchester City are known to be interested and will make a move at the end of the season.
