Chelsea are prepared to buy a new goalkeeper – even if they can’t find a buyer for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Telegraph says Blues manager Frank Lampard has lost confidence in the 25-year-old Spaniard and the west London club are drawing up a list of goalkeeping candidates to bring in over the summer.
The report claims the list will be conducted by the Blues’ technical and performance director Petr Cech and former goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon who is part of the scouting department.
Cech and Lollichon will create two separate lists for goalkeeper targets – one if they manage to raise funds by selling Kepa and one if they cannot.
Despite being dropped for Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester United on Sunday, Kepa is expected to return between the stick for the Blues’ final two Premier League games against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Given Willy Caballero has played in all but one of Chelsea’s FA Cup matches en route to the final on August 1, the Argentinian goalkeeper is expected to start the Wembley final against Arsenal.
