Chelsea are reportedly set to officially make a move for Napoli striker after finalizing a deal with Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix.
According to Sky Sports, after completing a medical, the Portugal forward, who might cost up to £46.3 million, will make a return to Chelsea from Atletico.
Felix scored four goals in 20 appearances while on loan in west London during the second half of the 2022–2023 season.
Conor Gallagher was able to finalize his move to Atletico thanks to the 24-year-old’s arrival. He will sign a six-year contract with an additional year’s option.
The La Liga club had an agreement to pay £36 million for the midfield player. But earlier this month, Chelsea’s attempt to sign Atletico attacker Samu Omorodion caused the deal to fall through.
Joining a group that includes Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson, Pedro Neto, Omari Kellyman, and Marc Guiu, Felix will face stiff competition at Stamford Bridge.
Despite Maresca’s abundance of offensive options, Chelsea will still pursue a No 9, and Victor Osimhen has been on their radar all summer.
But as things stand, Chelsea will not sign the Napoli striker to a long-term contract.
Sterling played in preseason games for Chelsea. But he was not included in the starting lineup for their Sunday Premier League clash against his old team, Manchester City.

Enzo Maresca informed the winger on Friday that he would not be able to play regular football this season, which was not what Sterling had anticipated.
Any move, though, would need to work for everyone. Chelsea are willing to consider bids. Last month, Juventus reached out over a possible agreement.
