Chelsea have reportedly been tipped to rival Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool for the Premier League title if they sign Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.
Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda shared his thoughts that Osimhen’s arrival would elevate an already outstanding Enzo Maresca squad to a new level.
Despite another frenetic summer, the Blues were predicted to struggle in Maresca’s debut season at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea have actually grabbed 14 points from their opening seven games to move up to fourth place in the Premier League standings.
Even though dynamic and thrilling Chelsea have scored more goals than defending champions Man City, Malouda still thinks his old team would gain from acquiring top striker Osimhen.
“We almost signed Victor Osimhen in the summer, and he is the type of player that would add extra quality to this Chelsea team,’ Malouda told Coin Poker as echoed by The Metro.
“If there is an opportunity to bring him in in January, then I think the club has to look at it. From what I’ve read, he will cost less than the numbers that were quoted in the summer – the fee is reportedly in the region of £70m.
“You want to see the club add more quality to its team because that is what every ambitious club does, and his addition would bring Chelsea a step closer to the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.”

Chelsea dispatched a delegation to Naples last summer in an attempt to bring the Nigeria international to west London. And they have been strongly linked to a move for him in recent years.
However, the Stamford Bridge party returned home unhappy, as Osimhen later joined Turkish side, Galatasaray on loan.
