Chelsea’s New Signing Reveals Advice From Ex Premier League Star

New Chelsea acquisition Nicolas Jackson has disclosed that Mauricio Pochettino’s high regard from Sadio Mane influenced his decision to join the west London club.

The 22-year-old former Villarreal striker, who joined the Blues in a £30 million transfer deal, is one of Pochettino’s first group of summer additions. Along with French forward Christopher Nkunku and a number of young, promising players.

Jackson attracted a lot of interest during his breakthrough LaLiga season. Where he scored 12 goals in 26 games. But the views of his Senegal international teammate and former Liverpool star Mane influenced his choice.

“I spoke to Sadio Mane about him and he spoke very highly of [Pochettino], he said amazing things about him,” the 22-year-old told Chelsea’s official website. “Sadio told me the manager is going to help me a lot to improve and do well if I listen to what he has to tell me, so that is exactly what I’m going to do.”

Jackson’s decision to join the Blues was also because of two other former Premier League stars, notably former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Senegalese compatriot Demba Ba. Even though Mane’s opinion bore a great deal of weight.

“I watched English football when I was in Africa and now I am here, so it’s a good feeling for me,” the dynamic forward continued.

“I wanted to join a big team and Chelsea is one of the best teams in the world. Plus I’ve watched them since I was young. I watched Demba Ba, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka [of France] was good too, big players.”
