Chelsea right-back Reece James is reportedly optimistic about his chances of being included in the England’s World Cup squad.
The 22-year-old has not played for Graham Potter’s side since incurring the injury against AC Milan in the Champions League on October 5.
James has been absent from Chelsea’s last six games in all competitions, despite Potter’s claim that the defender still had four weeks left in his brace.
The Chelsea boss then announced that the entire recovery procedure will take around eight weeks, therefore shutting down James’s hopes of playing in the World Cup.
However, according to the Evening Standard, Reece James is still optimistic of getting on the plane to Qatar and has even told his friends so.
As per the report, the England international is ahead of schedule in his recovery and is gradually being weaned off his leg brace as he continues to make remarkable steps in his rehab.
While James has allegedly accepted that he may miss the start of the tournament, the 22-year-old will “urge” Gareth Southgate to consider him for selection if he continues to recuperate in the same manner.

Prior to his severe knee injury, Reece James had scored two goals and set up two more in 11 games for Chelsea this season, and he has three assists from 15 senior England caps.
Chelsea and England were handed another defensive blow in midweek when Ben Chilwell was pulled off with a hamstring injury.
The left-back will be examined over the weekend, but there are worries that the issue will be bad enough to keep him out of the World Cup.
