Christian Eriksen might potentially help Manchester United sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after encouraging him to move to Tottenham.
The Red Devils have identified the former Southampton and Bayern Munich midfielder as a late target. Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch have also been mooted as possible additions to United’s midfield options before the transfer window closes.
However, Hojbjerg might be the more practical choice. It has been reported that United are mulling a bid for him, while his current club, Tottenham, is willing to sell before the transfer season shuts due to earlier interest from Atletico Madrid.
Should the 28-year-old move to Old Trafford, he would link up with compatriot Eriksen. Whilst the two have never played together for a club, Hojbjerg revealed that the playmaker played a key role in his move to Spurs from Southampton in 2020.
Quoted by Ekstra Bladet, he said: “I called Christian [Eriksen] and had a chat. I had some questions that I would have had clarified. And that was really positive.
“The talk I had with Christian, strengthened my desire and feeling to move to Tottenham.”

Since then, Hojbjerg has gone on to make 147 appearances for Spurs but appears out of favour this term. He has been afforded just two substitute appearances by new boss Ange Postecoglou.
During Hojbjerg’s time in North London, Eriksen has been on the move a fair amount. He had departed Spurs for Inter Milan before his countryman’s arrival.
His time at the Serie A club was cruelly cut short after the cardiac arrest he suffered at Euro 2020.
Eriksen was handed his first opportunity back in football with Brentford before he signed for Manchester United last summer.
