Club Confident Player Will Sign New Deal To Hand Arsenal Transfer Blow

Aston Villa are reportedly confident Douglas Luiz will sign a long-term at the club despite intense interest from Arsenal.

Luiz, 25, has established himself as a key member of the Villians’ squad this season after emerging as a key player under Unai Emery.

It is impossible to overstate Luiz’s contribution to his team’s quest for European qualification. And in keeping with his role, the club is hoping to sign him to new, and hopefully better terms according to talkSPORT as reported by Caught Offside.

The Brazilian is said to be ‘growing increasingly hopeful’ that he will agree to extend his stay at Villa Park. If Mikel Arteta is right, the number six is the perfect player to carry on the Gunners’ transformation. And the club could deal a severe transfer blow to league leaders Arsenal.

Whether or not Arsenal win their first Premier League title since 2004, their transfer business will need to shift elsewhere in the summer as Luiz is set to sign a new long-term contract in the Midlands.

Regarding Luiz, the South American is worthy of all the praise that he is receiving. His contributions to Emery’s core of the midfield have made Villa’s revival inevitable. And it seem to have validated the club’s choice to turn down transfer approaches in the previous summer.

Luiz, who has played for Brazil on 12 occasions, joined the Villains from Manchester City in 2019. In 197 games across all competitions, he has directly contributed to 46 goals.
