Houston Dynamo manager Ben Olsen has reportedly claimed that Lionel Messi will feature for Inter Miami in the US Open Cup final.
Messi hasn’t played since being replaced due to “muscle fatigue” in the 37th minute of Miami’s match against Toronto FC.
He has since sat out Argentina’s match as well as Miami’s following match, a 1-1 tie with local rival Orlando City.
The Florida-based club manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino indicated on Tuesday that the squad will wait ’till the last moment’ to decide whether Messi will be present for the game.
Thus he did not provide many details regarding Messi’s prospects of featuring.
However, he said that Messi won’t start even if he participates in the game because of the controversy surrounding his training participation. According to The Mail, Olsen, meanwhile, isn’t obsessive over whether the World Cup champion will be present.
‘We’re pretty sure he’ll play,’ Olsen said. ‘We’ll prepare for them in that way. They’ve got some options if that isn’t the case. But we’ll prepare for their best lineup unless we hear something more concrete.’

In contrast to other national sports leagues, Major League Soccer does not obligate teams to provide injury reports.
Giving managers like Martino the freedom to conceal any information they feel could be useful in helping opposition teams prepare for the match.
