Coman admits to feeling ‘sadness’ for former club PSG after scoring the winning goal

Bayern Munich’s Champions League final hero Kingsley Coman admits he was left with a tinge of sadness for former club Paris Saint-Germain after he scored the winning goal against them.

The France international’s second-half header from Joshua Kimmich’s cross was enough for Bayern to seal a 1-0 win in Lisbon and consequently claim the treble for the 2019-20 season.

The 24-year-old joined PSG’s academy aged eight and made his professional debut aged 16.

However, he was sold to Juventus the following year and has spent the past five years at the Allianz Arena with Bayern.

But speaking to French outlet RMC Sport after helping the Bundesliga champions to claim their sixth European Cup, he also revealed he felt a little sorry for the club that represents the city where he was born.

‘This is an extraordinary feeling,’ Coman said.

‘I feel a lot of joy, but also sadness for PSG, it hurts my heart a bit even though I am 100% Bayern as I have said.’

On the final itself, Coman added: ‘Since the beginning, we tried to control the match.

‘They had counters, we knew that they were going to be dangerous. PSG had a super match, as did we, it was a super final.’

Coman also became the second-youngest player to be named Man of the Match in a Champions League final this century, beaten only by a 23-year-old Lionel Messi in 2011.

Bayern’s triumph in Lisbon was also the 20th trophy of Coman’s career in a list which also includes five Bundesliga titles and two Ligue 1 and Serie A trophies.
