Antonio Conte has labelled the summer transfer market ‘crazy’ as Chelsea continue to stutter in their search for new signings.
While both Manchester sides have spent heavily, including United’s world record £89million move for Paul Pogba, Chelsea have spent relatively modestly – in the region of £60million – on midfielder N’Golo Kante and striker Michy Batshuayi.
Conte, though, is determined to bring in extra reinforcements, with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku towards the top of his shopping list.
But the Italian has found difficulty in trying to nail down his top targets and admits the summer window has been testing.
‘I talk every day with the club,’ said Conte, whose side face West Ham on Monday night in their Premier League opener.
‘We have a plan, but we know the transfer market is very crazy. We must be patient to find the right solution.
‘Every single club wants to improve because they want to fight for the title and every single club adapts their transfer policy in line with their own idea. Chelsea is waiting for the right solution.’
