Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has brushed off criticism from his opposite number Jose Mourinho, saying he does not regret his celebration during the 4-0 trouncing of Manchester United.
Mourinho allegedly accused the Italian of trying to humiliate him after he attempted to whip up the noise from the home support near the final whistle.
When asked if he regretted about his actions, Conte said: “No. If we want to cut the emotion [from football], I go home and change my job.”
Pedro opened the scoring after 30 seconds, before Gary Cahill doubled the lead to send the Blues into the break 2-0 up.
Eden Hazard then made it 3-0 and N’Golo Kante scored his first league goal for the club eight minutes from time to complete the thrashing.
Conte told Sky Sports: “I was listening to the supporters of Man United during the game always supporting their team.
“In one moment of great silence and after a great performance like this, I asked my supporters to do a great clap for the players. I think this is normal and today you see all the players deserved it.”
He also declined to repeat what Mourinho had whispered to him on the touchline at the final whistle.
“I think a private conversation must remain private. If someone discovers something, OK, but for me the conversation will remain private,” the 47- year-old said.
Conte’s side are unbeaten in their last three games since the former Juventus boss changed their formation to three at the back, scoring nine goals and conceding none, while United are now without a win in three league matches.
On Wednesday Chelsea travel across London to face West Ham in the last-16 of the EFL Cup.
