Conte Happy With Tottenham Win After UCL Elimination

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Nottingham Forest 3-1 at home in the Premier League thanks to a brace from Harry Kane and one from Heung-Min Son.

Spurs entered the match having just been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and appeared to be a team in turmoil with a manager who is likely to step down at the completion of the current campaign.

Conte maintained that he was happy with the way his squad performed at home in response to the talk of the club’s crisis.

The Italian emphasized that the team must have a sense of camaraderie in order to develop a winning mindset.

He acknowledged that he is putting a lot of effort into instilling that mindset and attitude at Tottenham, but he believes it will take a bit longer.

Conte said in a press conference“I’m happy for the response of the whole team, the desire to help each other.

“I always say to you, to create a winning mentality is to have players and sign players but at the same time I think it’s more important to create the spirit.

“The right spirit help you to overcome difficult situations.

“If you are a team in every circumstance you are stronger instead of 11 single players.

“We are working a lot to try to build the right mentality.

“I know very well that before to arrive at the end of this path you have to work.”

Tottenham are fourth in the standings and edge Liverpool – who lost earlier today against Bournemouth – by six points even though they have played one more game.
