Conte Planning January Transfer Move For Chelsea Outcast

Napoli are eyeing a January transfer move for Chelsea defender, Ben Chilwell, with Antonio Conte believed to be interested in a move for the out-of-favour player.

Following Enzo Maresca’s hiring as manager in June, Chilwell was excluded from Chelsea’s first-team plans and was strongly advised to find a new team.

Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad,” which also comprised Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Cesare Casadei, was announced to include Chilwell in the weeks that followed.

The 27-year-old is eager to find a way out of Stamford Bridge so that he can get regular playing time somewhere. Even though he made an unexpected substitute appearance in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup victory over Barrow.

According to The Sun as claimed by The Metro, Chilwell is “expected” to depart Chelsea in January and Napoli are keeping a close eye on the full-back at the direction of head coach Conte, who managed Chelsea from 2016 to 2018 and is reportedly a “huge fan.”

It’s possible that Napoli may sign Chilwell on a first-year loan with a buyout option at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season.

However, three Premier League clubs, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich are all prepared to launch offers for the England international in the winter, so Napoli won’t get a free pass at Chilwell.

Chilwell’s current deal with the Blues is still in effect for three years.

The former Leicester City star has made 107 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions since joining the team in 2020 for an estimated fee of £50 million.
