Manchester United winger, Alejandro Garnacho was reportedly labelled a clown following his action in his side’s 4-3 loss to Danish club, FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
In the 7th minute of additional time in the first half when Copenhagen won a penalty, Garnacho was accused of attempting to pull the same antics after he was seen scuffing the penalty spot late in the reversed fixture last month. Andre Onana made a late save to seal a 1-0 victory in favour of the Red Devils.
However, Onana was unable to stop Diogo Goncalves on this occasion to even the score as Copenhagen pulled off a thrilling 4-3 comeback that evening.
What Did The Copenhagen Players Say About Garnacho’s Behaviour?
Following the match, Vavro was unreserved in his criticism of Garnacho.
“I saw that he tried to do something about the penalty kick, but Kevin Diks stood in front and blocked,” Vavro told Bold as reported by 90min. “It is the second time. And then on our pitch? To me he is a clown.
“He has the mentality of a child when he tries something like this again, in an away game. It’s one thing at home in the 97th minute, but here in the first half? I don’t understand him trying to do that.”
Vavro was not the only Copenhagen player to criticize the 19-year-old Argentina international following the encounter. Lukas Lerager commented that the United attacker needed to tone down himself.
“Sometimes people in the big clubs have to bow their heads a little,” Lerager said. “Just know that they are human too.
“It just doesn’t suit such a man. And he needs to know.”
Following the end of matchday 4 of the UCL, United are currently last on 3 points in the group A.
