Courtois Breaks Silence On Injury Concerns Ahead Of Arsenal Matchup

Thibaut Courtois has reportedly given his assurances to Rea Madrid fans ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal.

Due to minor issues that he has stated are now behind him, Courtois has missed three of Madrid’s previous four La Liga games, against Valencia, Rayo Vallecano, and Leganes.

As he did for a large portion of the previous season, Andriy Lunin filled in as a replacement in two of those games. In the latter match against Valencia, homegrown goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez was given his first-team debut.

However, Courtois will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday night’s trip to the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal hope to use two big tifos to create a boisterous and upbeat atmosphere for the home team.

“I’m fine, I had a small problem, it was a day-to-day thing, but I’ve been training for several sessions,” Courtois explained as echoed by 90min.

“I’ve had two [injuries]: the first a knock and the second for coming back too quickly. I’m fully recovered. I’m fit. It wasn’t a big problem.

“I’ve been on the pitch [in training] for the last few days,” the Belgian added.

Aurelien Tchouameni will miss this match due to a European suspension, while Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos are sidelined due to injuries.

With Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger paired in the heart of the defence, David Alaba is predicted to play left-back, the position where he first gained recognition.
