Coutinho ‘tells Klopp he won’t play for Liverpool again’

Philippe Coutinho is refusing to change his stance over a move away from Liverpool – even if it costs him his place at the World Cup, according to Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian wants to quit Anfield to secure a blockbuster switch to Barcelona after Liverpool rejected two bids for his services.

Last week, the Reds issued a statement insisting Coutinho would not be departing but the player has handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through the move.

Reports suggest Coutinho, who is currently sidelined with a back problem, has even told Klopp he will never play for the club again.

And now it is suggested he is so intent on leaving the club, Coutinho is even willing to risk his place in Brazil’s squad for next summer.

Mundo Deportivo reports Coutinho is ready to sit in the stands for the remainder of the season if the club do not agree to his departure.

The 25-year-old is desperate to move to the Nou Camp as Ernesto Valverde looks to bring in reinforcements.

Coutinho believe he has acted professionally throughout the summer and after initially going through the necessary means of handing in a formal transfer request, he will now look to force the move.

A deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele is also in the pipeline for the Catalan giants.

Discussing the injured playmaker earlier this week, Klopp said: “Nothing has changed in the last few days – not on one side or the other side.

“I work with the players I have and don’t think about players I don’t have — if they are injured or whatever. It’s the same situation for me.

“If, for example, there is an offer for a player and I say ‘No’ and the owners say, ‘Yes, let’s ask for a number on how much they want to pay.’ And I say, ‘I don’t want to hear it’. But they say ‘We want to hear it, £50 million … £50 million is cool.’ So then they sell the player — that is how a club works.”
