Coutinho’s agent reveals he wants Premier League return amid Arsenal interest

Philippe Coutinho could be returning to the Premier League after his agent Kia Joorabchian revealed a move back to England is ‘very much open’.

The former Liverpool midfielder is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from LaLiga giants Barcelona. However, his future in Spain looks bleak with the Catalan club not interested in keeping hold of him.

Coutinho has been attracting interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester – according to Sport – and Joorabchian has expressed the Brazilian’s interest to return to the Premier League.

‘It’s no secret he wants to come back to the Premier League,’ Joorabchian told talkSPORT.

‘It’s still very much open. There is a lot of genuine interest.’

However, due to the pushed back dates of the transfer window and the Champions League, Joorabchian said it may take some time for a deal to be made.

‘Because the Champions League will run until August 23, it will be difficult for players like Coutinho to make any commitments or moves pre that date,’ he added.

‘Because he has the Champions League at the moment, they have to qualify past Chelsea. And then he has got to play Barcelona, believe it or not.

‘For him to make a commitment pre having finished the Champions League.

‘He loves playing in the Premier League, he is adored playing in the Premier League and that is one of his priorities. He is not at all against staying at Barcelona.’

It is possible that Coutinho will be loaned out again, potentially with an option to buy down the line, as Barcelona understand clubs don’t have the funds to spend due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coutinho may also have to take a pay cut in order to facilitate a move, with any potential suitors having to pay €20m (£18.2m) for the loan and €10m (£9.1m) to cover the Brazilian’s wages.
