Covid-19 Denied Me Chance To Watch Euro 2020 Final, Ed Sheeran Reveals

Due to a positive Covid test on the day of the historic game, poor Ed Sheeran was forced to give up his tickets to the Euro 2020 final.

The iconic musician not only had the most sought after ticket in English football history, he even had an enviable place in the illustrious Wembley box seats for the biggest match in Three Lions’ history since 1966.

Having witnessed Harry Kane prod Gareth Southgate’s side into the show-piece final at Wembley, Sheeran was overjoyed when his colleague told him they had secured a place in the VIP section of Wembley.

Sadly, the victory against Denmark would turn out to be the only England game he could see from under the Wembley arch at Euro 2020.

How Ed Sheeran Missed The Euro Final

“So I bought the Euro final ticket when it was announced,” Sheeran began on That Peter Crouch podcast.

“I was like, ‘whoever plays, I’ll go’, then Covid happened and it got postponed, so I still had my finals ticket.

“When England was doing well I was like ‘this is so f***ing cool’. Then they were in the semi-final and the guy that owns my record company was like ‘I’ve got a box for the final, do you want to come?’

“I was like ‘yeah, great’ and then I got Covid and I missed the final. But, I gave my tickets to my best mate and his dad, and then got two more for his sister and her boyfriend, and they had the time of their lives.”

Sheeran will certainly be hoping the Three Lions can rediscover their form of Euro 2020 when they jet off to Qatar for the World Cup.

England’s campaign will kick off against Iran on November 21 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

Sheeran will be crossing his fingers that they will be in the Lusail Stadium on December 18 for the World Cup Final, as will millions of England supporters.

And if England’s performances live up to European football fans’ expectations, Southgate and his team may well have a very successful campaign.

“We have been travelling around Europe, and every European person that I meet is like ‘England are going to do well in the World Cup,’ Sheeran added.

“I think, without a doubt, definitely quarters. I would love to see a final again.”
