During a friendly match against Numancia on Wednesday, a group of Atletico Madrid fans aired their strong opinions over a rumored deal for Cristiano Ronaldo. A return to Madrid with Atletico would be in line with Ronaldo’s stated desire to leave Manchester United in order to compete in the Champions League in 2022–2023.
The former Real Madrid player, though, has been described as “practically impossible” to sign, and Atletico’s fans have already registered their dissatisfaction.

Ronaldo Transfer Rumors Reactions By Atletico fans
A banner displayed at the pre-season friendly against Numancia read “CR7 not welcome”, referring to Ronaldo’s popular nickname.
The 37-year-old played for the neighborhood rivals of Atletico for nine seasons, scoring for Real Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final against the Rojoblancos.
The International Union of Fan Clubs for Atletico (Union Internacional de Penas Atletico de Madrid) has also issued a statement, conveying their dissatisfaction if the Ronaldo rumors are true.

The resolution stated: “In light of the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo, if it is more than a simple rumour without any basis, we express our absolute rejection of his hypothetical joining of our club.
“The aforementioned player represents the antithesis of the values that constitute the hallmarks of our Atleti, such as the effort, generosity, modesty and humility of those who want to defend our values.
“Even in the highly unlikely hypothetical case that a player in steep decline such as Cristiano Ronaldo could guarantee us a trophy, we wouldn’t accept his signing. The sense of being a part of our Atletico feeling isn’t within his reach, unfortunately for him, and as such he could never receive our affection or recognition.
“As such, we ask the club to reject his possible signing, if it has indeed been considered at any time.”
Will Cristiano Ronaldo Actually Join Atletico Madrid?
The Portuguese star, who missed Manchester United’s preseason tour of Australia and Thailand, wants to exit the club.
The question is which club can meet all of his standards, including financial resources, the potential to play Champions League football, the willingness to sign a player in his late 30s, and supporter reaction.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea have both been considered as potential destinations for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, though none has showed interest.
