Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Real Madrid star Marcelo following his exit from the club. The Portuguese international shared a photo on Instagram with a touching message for his old teammate.
“More than a teammate, a brother that football gave me,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
“On and off the pitch, one of the greatest stars with whom I had the pleasure of sharing a dressing room. Go for it all in this new adventure, Marcelo!”
Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo won the Champions League four times at Real Madrid, as well as two La Liga titles. In addition, the pair won the Copa Del Rey twice and the FIFA Club World Cup three times.
After 15 years with Real Madrid, the Brazilian defender has announced his departure. He has confirmed that he would not be retiring from the game (via The Athletic), although he is yet chose his next club.

Former teammates and captains also left tributes, with Marcelo wearing the armband for his final season at the club.
“You arrived as a child. How many times I shouted “Marcelooooo, come back!” Thank you for being such a legend. A big hug my friend and all the best for the future,” Iker Casillas posted on social media.
